At Octobers monthly meeting we had a mini workshop making our own artists postcards.
One of our members, Kathrina, proposed the idea. She was inspired by a Scottish textile artist group called edge. You can find examples of their work here
We all brought a collection of things to use. From stamps and ink pads, to watercolour and pastels the tables were over flowing with materials.
element15 pigment inks and cross patterns
It was a really relaxing exercise, simply creating for creativity’s sake. Experimenting with different colours and patterns and having to work within the constraints of the size of a small postcard.
If you are part of an art group I would highly recommend a group project like this. The postcard dimensions give you a nice starting point and it is fascinating to see all the different end pieces that our members created.
