Its hotting up

Things are hotting up in the Naas/Sallins area….. and we don’t just mean the weather!

Rina, Vanessa, Eimear and Colleen

Last Wednesday (14th June) saw the ‘Taste for Art’ event at Two Cooks restaurant in Sallins.  More than 40 people turned up and a great time was had by all!

We launched our new exhibition of artworks and those lucky enough to be there on the night enjoyed a range of exquisite food from the tasting menu conjured up by Josef!

This event gave us  an opportunity to talk about our work, both with regard to the techniques and materials we use, but also about the meaning behind a piece, the emotional impetus that is so important in producing a piece of art.

Eimear spoke eloquently about how important this is in her work and how aspects of her life experience inspire so much of her work. She also talked about the solace an artist can find in working on a piece with real meaning.  Eimear brought along some samples of her sketchbooks and some of her ‘vessels’ and spoke about the inspiration for each piece.

Downstairs, Vanessa had the raw materials for silk paper making and talked through the process of making paper with interested parties.  Also on view were some of the sketchbooks used to develop the ideas for the pieces on exhibit and some other tools of the trade.

There is still an opportunity of course to view the art over the next two months – call in any evening (except Monday or Tuesday) to have a glass of wine and perhaps taste the wonderful food at Two Cooks.

Thanks to Rina and Helen for the great photographs.

Just a reminder also that our next exhibition with Las Rada Wine and Tapas bar will be on display from today and will be in place for the Midsummer Arts Festival Naas and Sallins,  23rd and 24th June.  Pictures from this exhibition to follow later in the week.
