We have hung a bright, eclectic exhibition of new work in Las Rada Wine and Tapas Bar just in time for Spring and the bright evenings to come. This is the 9th installation of our work in the gallery space of the wine bar – LR9! Here is a sneak preview of some of the new work:
‘Patterns’ by Hannaleena Ahonen
Hannaleena is one of the newest members of our group and this is the first time her work has been exhibited. I think the influences of her Nordic country of birth can be seen in the beautiful stitch work and the crisp, clean lines of this piece. This work was inspired by visiting the Alhambra Palace in Spain last year where she loved the Moorish geometric patterns where one line makes many shapes.
‘Grandmother’s Lace’ by Helen McLoughlin
Helen’s beautiful work is a screen print on cotton and hand stitched. It was inspired by vintage lace from times gone by. We love the combination of colours and the delicate lace pattern.
‘Far above the Moon I & II’ by Colleen Prendiville (pair on the left of picture)
”Into the Woods’ by Elaine Peden (on right of picture)
‘Into the Woods’ by Elaine has a mysterious and shadowy aura, inviting one to enter the dark woods if one dares. The piece was created by layering and fusing Jacquard, cotton and sheer fabrics and applying acrylic, oil paint and wire, then hand stitching with cotton and silk threads.
Colleen’s two pieces are mono prints on cotton, with applied fabrics and hand stitch. She was inspired by space travel, new frontiers and fearlessness! Here is a close up of one section of ‘Far above the Moon II’:
There are more new and unseen works in this exhibition – so we hope you will get a chance to drop into Las Rada for something nice to eat and a quick viewing of our work. For opening hours and menus go to http://www.lasradatapas.ie/
