Fishy tails and Butterflys!

We are always happy to show you new work from members of our group.   The animal world seems to be the theme of the moment! Elaine Peden is perfecting her skills in 3D work these days and has produced another fish to follow the sale of her beautiful salmon at the end of last year.

This time it is a more exotic species – a Bicolour Parrotfish, found in the Sinai Peninsula – no less!   The colours are amazing, especially as the base material started life as Gotland Icelandic grey fleece before Elaine worked her magic.

Hanna Ahonen has butterflies on her mind;  multi-coloured, multi-patterned and beautiful butterflies!   These creatures were made using free machine embroidery whereby layers of stitching is built up to create a new fabric of the threads.  Hanna has placed the butterflies on vibrant green crochet leaves.  Hanna’s skills at both stitch and crochet is evident in this work.

What a cheerful addition this would make to a child’s room!

These works, and more, are currently on display in Two Cooks Restaurant in Sallins, Co. Kildare.
