Culture Night Kildare
Culture Night takes place on Friday, 18th of September with lots of events taking place around the country. For those of us in Kildare there are some interesting happenings that we would love to participate in….. the problem is fitting them all in. To download the full programme go to www.kildare.ie/ArtsService/2015CultureNightProgramme
Some items that caught our eye were:
- The Public Art Bus Tour which departs from McAuley Place (The Convent), Naas at 6pm and returning at 7.45 / 8pm for refreshments in McAuley Place. Parking is available. The tour this year will celebrate the Horse and it’s links to Kildare taking in artworks including Lynn Kirkham’s – ‘Ghost Horses from the Bog’ and the brand new ‘The Gallop’ – celebrating 150 years of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby.
- Kildare Portrait Artist of the Year which will begin at 6 p.m. in Naas Town Hall
- Sean Nos and Set Dancing in the courtyard outside Alice’s Restaurant in Moat Mall, Naas
- A Bat Walk along the canal, leaving at 7.30 p.m. opposite the Grange Cafe, Sallins and live music on a barge in Sallins from 5 p.m. till late!
- Troubadour Poet Experience – poetry readings outside various venues in Naas from 5 p.m. onwards
- A concert with Brian Dunning and Sean Whelan in St Patrick’s Church of Ireland Church
- Art exhibitions by the Naas Art Group in McAuley Place and Fidelma Barton at Urban Kitchen
Of course we are having our own small exhibition to mark Culture Night and the first year of business for Salamander Coffee House, 2 George’s Street, Newbridge. The exhibition will run for a few weeks beginning Saturday, 12th September.
