In June we spotted a small piece in the Irish Times magazine which pleased us no end!   An NCAD textile graduate, Alanagh Clegg from Naas, is making beautiful clothes in tandem with artisans in Gujarat in India.  Her collection is executed in hand-embroidered cotton and silk using techniques handed down for generations.  It is wonderful to see these ‘slow fashion’ techniques making their way back into our everyday clothes.

Inspired by a family business of shoe repair (the Clegg name will be familiar to anyone living in Naas), her work explores the traditions of hand making techniques.  After graduating last year, Alanagh received a bursary which enabled her to travel to India and work with women famous for mirror embroidery and men skilled in tie-dying and, from this, she founded her label four-threads.com.   Her creations can be found at Kalu in Naas and MADE in Powerscourt or can be commissioned directly from Alanagh.
