Last week’s post looked at current 3D pieces produced by our members  – but I couldn’t include them all in the one post as it might have caused image overload for your email!    So here is a look at the remaining pieces….. well worth waiting for:

Helen McLoughlin’s ‘Cosmos‘ is a monoprint on cotton muslin, wrapped and stitched onto a semi circular wire framework, then mounted within a box frame.

The piece developed from a monoprinting session and the illusion of movement the printing created on the fabric.

The outcome is an piece evocative of shooting stars and planets in a cosmic landscape.

 

‘Amalgam‘ by Eimear Molony is a wonderful collar of hand beaded free machine embroidery on a fabric background.

The piece would add interest to any dress or jumper.  It is reversible and can transform from day to evening wear.

The piece represents the uniqueness, complexity and individuality of a woman’s personality as envisaged by Eimear.

 

 

‘Life in Tempo‘ by Vanessa Scott-Hayward is a piece created by weaving together strips of old music sheets which were forst over printed in a once-off print (mono printing).

The piece was than stitched using a manual, vintage Singer sewing machine.  The slow, steady crank of the sewing machine set the pace as the patterns were traced and retraced onto the woven paper.

The work can be viewed from either side, as the reverse is a striking monochrome as Vanessa used a black thread in the bobbin of the sewing machine and left the reverse of the music sheets unprinted.

The piece is placed in a double sided perspex frame that can be wall mounted or can sit in a hand made wooden stand, which makes it a really versatile piece..
